San Diego, CA - Toffa International Limited and WaveWare Communications, Inc., today announced interoperability plans for their products, Toffa's SyncWisePro and WaveWare's WaveSync™ synchronization server. SyncWisePro is a leading synchronization software for Palm connected devices and GroupWise, and WaveSync is the premier handheld synchronization server software currently supporting Palm Computing® Platform devices. The joint SyncWisePro/WaveSync offering enables users of 3Com Palm connected devices to synchronize the Palm directly with Novell GroupWise hosted on a server.   

Previous to this partnership, schedule data entered into the handheld had to pass through a desktop PC in order to reach the GroupWise database on the server. With this new solution, schedule data can go directly from the remote handheld to the GroupWise server without passing through the desktop. This avoids the security risks introduced by requiring desktop access from outside the LAN. Now, remote personnel can be assured of secure, direct registration of schedule over any communication link, wired or wireless.

Depending on the type of communications link used, the SyncWisePro operation over WaveSync synchronization enjoys a speed increase from 40 to 500%. This can be critical when Palm schedules need to be synchronized under the constraint of limited time between flights or between appointments. The combined SyncWisePro/WaveSync product offering will be available in Q1 2000.
